Our Research Values

1. Acknowledging History of Research: As we create, deliver, and report research, we acknowledge the historical and current trauma that research has had on our BIPOC and marginalized relatives. We strive to conduct consensual research that promotes privacy, autonomy, and dignity, while considering who research has historically excluded.

2. Transparency: We value transparency in all phases of the research that we conduct and utilize. This is upheld in the way data is used, sources of information are validated, and funding is identified. We prioritize the needs of the community over those with a vested interest in the results of research.

3. Dignified Research: We acknowledge that research has limitations in who, what, and how topics are studied. We recognize community members as experts and engage in thoughtful practices of working in collaboration, involving community, elders, and centering indigenous values.
