Come sit around a fireplace with the Cihuapactli Collective and Black River Life to dialogue about the impact of shared harm, in a shared space of healing. We will convene outdoors behind the Sagrado Galleria on Oct. 17th at 6–8 p.m. for a conversation on the shared experiences of Black and Indigenous communities, particularly those in South Phoenix. This event is a family-friendly space that's free and open to the public. We are grateful to offer this event within the 'Politics of Place' series presented by a collaborative of Black and Indigenous-led organizations: Mass Liberation AZ, Savvy Pen, Cahokia Phx, Black River Life, InSite Consultants, and the Cihuapactli Collective. Gratitude to LISC Phoenix and the City of Phoenix for supporting this work. Please visit marginstocenter.com to learn more about the full series of 'Politics of Place' events.

Black River Life Media is a love letter, a loudspeaker and an exploration of the many streams of Black life. We deliver news, information, documentary films, cultural events and community gatherings that highlight the African diaspora. We are pro-Black, pro-Queer, pro-Trans, pro-Immigrant, pro-Worker, pro-Abolition, pro-Reparations and in solidarity with all oppressed peoples around the globe, particularly in the Global South. We believe that land must be restored to its Indigenous caretakers. In keeping with Black queer feminism, we believe that the pursuit of safe, just societies means centering those who are on the margins. When Black people get free, we all get free.
The Cihuapactli Collective's purpose is to provide healing for urban Indigenous Peoples from the diaspora. This is done by sharing wisdom, connecting resources, revitalizing Traditional Knowledge, promoting and advocating for health & wellness. Rooted in ancestral and Traditional Knowledge, the Cihuapactli Collective is committed to inclusively empowering families by sharing of our sacred bundles.
